Welcome to our Scarborough Eastfield nursery
Eastfield Happy Jays is a 2, 3 & 4 year old provision in a children’s centre term time only. We also provide Crèches for the children centres enabling parents to attend courses (facilitated by the children’s centre) or to do adult learning courses.
The building is purpose built and consists of 1 large playroom with access to outside for freeflow & toilets in room, a separate crèche room with access to outside and toilets in room, it has a separate changing area and small kitchen facility.
The nursery supplies many areas for the children to explore, including the water and sand tray as well as the home corner, construction and the messy area and much more. Through the most part of the sessions, the children have the opportunity to free flow between the indoor and outdoor space, choosing their activates as they go.
While at nursery children can choose to have a snack, which consists of a variety of fresh fruit, plus health home cooked meals for dinner or tea. Throughout the session they are encouraged to take part in circle time and story/singing sessions to promote their language communication and social skills.
We ask that parents contribute to their child's learning journey, so we can gain a greater understanding of the various activities your child enjoys both in and out of nursery.
There is also a home/nursery loaning station where children can take books, story sacks, maths packs and activity bags, home to share with their families.

Our care is based on a national framework called The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This is at the forefront of current best practice to support children in their earliest years. It provides information on child development, effective practice, examples of play activities to promote play and learning, guidance on planning and resourcing and meeting diverse needs. The framework is split into four themes:
- A Unique child
- Positive Relationships
- Enabling Environments
- Learning and Development
Through the observation of the children we can understand where their interests lie, allowing us to designing appropriate activates and resources for the children to explore.
