Welcome to our Batley Nursery

Carlinghow Hall Nursery has been established since 1968 to provide first class care for your child. The location has been chosen with the needs of local people and local employers in mind.

There is a shortage of good quality childcare facilities and very often parents have little or no choice over having to take whatever is available to them. At Carlinghow Hall we provide a local high quality nursery in a safe, secure and clean environment with excellent indoor and outdoor play facilities staffed by well qualified and caring people.

What we offer - premises

Carlinghow Hall is conveniently located close to Batley town centre and the main highway routes leading to neighbouring towns and cities in West Yorkshire.

The nursery is accommodated within a large and historic detached house with extensive gardens and play areas and ample parking facilities. Over the years we have built up an enviable reputation as being the finest childcare facility of its kind in the area. We provides a warm, happy, safe and caring environment for your child in the most convenient of locations.

Children are cared for in small groups within separate rooms each of which is supplied with a full range of educational toys and equipment providing stimulation and learning at all stages of your child’s development. A lot of thought and careful planning has gone into the design based on our own operating experience and as a result it is a first class facility.

There are separate sections for children of differing ages together with a dining room and kitchen facilities as well as separate toilets for children and staff, office and meeting room space.

The Centre is registered with Ofsted and meets all the necessary environmental health, fire and health and safety requirements needed in a modern daycare facility.

Margaret has worked at Carlinghow nursery since 2000. She has worked in all units and has worked her way up from nursery nurse, to room supervisor to Deputy Manager then to nursery manager in 2006. Margaret has her NVQ level 4 in child care and is working towards her NVQ level 5 in child care. She also has her NVQ level 3 in management and her Level 2 in customer service. Margaret is our safeguarding children co-ordinator. Margaret has her own little girl who attends the nursery.

Within the Centre children are cared for on the following basis:

Babies

Our baby rooms comprise well-equipped play rooms with plenty of space for rolling, crawling and learning to walk and provide a relaxed but stimulating environment.

Our staff hold various qualifications ranging from degree and diplomas to Level 2 in all aspects of childcare management. In addition, all staff pursue an ongoing training programme covering areas such as Child Safeguarding, Learning through Play, First Aid and Health and Safety. All our staff follow the Happy Jays Code of Practice which governs the way we operate.

We are all friendly, caring and are only too happy to help both parents and children. We work with the children to develop their creativity, imagination and language skills in a meaningful way. This is achieved through a wide range of structured activities in accordance with the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and with our own standards of good childcare practice.

All our meals are prepared freshly on the premises by our qualified cook and provide a balanced nutritional healthy diet for all children with the babies receiving their first pureed fruit and vegetable solid foods when they are ready to do so. We have received the Kirklees ‘5 Star Award’ for healthy eating and hygiene practice.

Happy Jays is open from 7.45am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday. We are open all year round excluding bank and public holidays. We do not open over Christmas and New Year.
